Torngat Mountains National Park
Adventures and Mysteries of the Labrador Inuit
Although located some 200 kms north of Labrador's most northerly community (Nain), Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station is alive with activity over the summer months. The camp has a variety of facilities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable; cafeteria, washrooms, showers and laundry. The camp operates primarily on green technology (solar) but has back up diesel generators.
With the exception of overnight excursions, all accommodations are located within the core of Base Camp and are positioned within an electric bear fence enclosure. Guest have a range of quality tent-style accommodation options to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. One option is the insulated "soft-wall" Design Shelters built on wooden platforms and feature electricity as well as beds with soft feather duvet bedding. This accommodation sleeps 2-6 people, depending on the arrangement of the beds.
Another (newest) option is the InterShelters which are insulated domes with electricity, heat, and include beds and bedding which provides a very comfortable sleep for up to 2 people.
